Specialty Contact Lenses

Are you tired of dealing with the discomfort of traditional contact lenses? If so, it may be time to consider specialty contact lenses. If you have an irregular cornea, suffer from dry eyes, or have specific eye conditions like keratoconus, traditional contacts may not work well for you. Specialty contact lenses are designed to address these unique challenges, providing a customized fit and superior comfort.

At Pleasant Optics, St. Louis Optics, Carson City Optics, Alma Optics, and State Street Optics, our optometrists specialize in fitting specialty contact lenses. We begin with a comprehensive eye exam to assess your eye health and determine the best type of lens for your needs. Using advanced corneal mapping technology, we create a detailed map of your cornea to understand its shape and structure. Based on your corneal map and specific needs, we’ll customize your contact lenses for the best fit and comfort. Our specialty contact lens options include:

  • 50% off a complete pair of eyeglasses after you use your vision insurance on your contacts.

•  Highest manufacturer rebates for contact lenses on orders of 6 month or 1-year supplies of contact lenses.

•  Free pair of polarized sunglasses with the purchase of a 1-year supply of contact lenses.
•  Direct shipment of contact lenses to your home.
•  If your prescription changes, we will exchange with the new prescription for free.
( as long as the boxes of contacts are not damaged ).
•  Free contact lens follow-ups.

Rigid gas permeable lenses

Rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses are a great option for patients with irregularly shaped corneas or astigmatism. These lenses provide sharper vision and allow more oxygen to reach the eyes than soft lenses. Made from rigid materials, RGP lenses are more durable and can last longer than soft lenses if properly cared for. RGP lenses can be customized to fit your eye’s unique shape, providing a comfortable and secure fit.

Scleral contact lenses

Scleral lenses are larger than traditional contact lenses and vault over the entire cornea, resting on the sclera (the white part of the eye). This design provides more stability and comfort for those with keratoconus, post-surgical eyes, or other corneal irregularities. Scleral lenses are also an excellent choice for people with severe dry eye. The space between the lens and the cornea acts as a reservoir, holding a saline solution that keeps the eyes hydrated and comfortable.
